Too Long..

I know it has been too long again since I last posted anything. I feel terrible about that. We have been pretty busy to say the least. We just got back from a week long trip to Nebraska. It was Pierce's first really long road trip and also staying in hotels. It was Pierce's first time got to meet most of D's relatives. He did such a great job!

Along with this, Pierce took a few steps 2 days before the trip 7-19. He continues to do it off and on. Also, on the trip back home (7-26) Pierce started to clap and continues to do it now or wants to high five or live five ya. He has Mama and Dada really down and Ba (usually says it when he sees a ball or is playing with a ball). He loves animals. He gets really excited when he sees a bird, dog or cat. It is so cute. He has become a bit shy lately and not really going as freely to others. Might be stranger awareness. Not a bad thing to have sometimes. Separation anxiety kicks in once and awhile too.

We have been to the pool many times and with each trip he does better and better. J has even gotten him to go under water with him. He loves to go on runs with us and just watch everything around him. He continues to go to playdates and now 1 year birthday parties are starting up! It is so crazy that his 1 year birthday is a little less than a month away!

D continues to go to stroller strides. However the franchise owner for Austin has decided to not renew her franchise fee for the year so it will be shutting down 8-1. So we will have to find another means of exercising 3 days a week. I don't want to jinx it either, but the other night after trying a few things, Pierce finally slept through the night with out waking up!!! YEA. I hope it continues!!! Sometimes we think he may be teething - he drools a lot and can get pretty cranky. But we also have temper tantrums that have started up a lot. The word "No" is used a lot around here. Pierce really enjoys table food. We pretty much give him what we eat. He eats beans, peas, grapes, pasta, chicken, black beans, tortillas, refried beans, bananas, peaches, pears, egos, pancakes, etc.

J worked some on the garage to get things put up and unpacked and it is so nice! I think that is really about it here. Not a lot else has happened in the amount of time that I haven't posted anything.

Well I will start posting a lot of pictures now. Keep in touch and again as I always say, I will try to do better. But I should be now since we have the new software installed.

9 Month appointment

Well Pierce's 9 Month appointment went well. We saw a different doctor this time because our doctor was out of town. This doctor was very nice and Pierce enjoyed visiting her. This appointment there were no shots involved so that was nice. It was just a checkup to see how he is growing. It is still hard to weigh the little guy because he is always moving or grabbing things or he is just too long so that his feet touch the ground so that throws the scale off. So the best reading we got was when I held him and stood on the scale and then subtracted my weight. With that he weighs 17.4 lbs. Which is in the 8th percentile. His height is 28 inches which is in the 45th percentile. The doctor said that babies usually hit a plateau around this age and then will sky rocket again. So we will see how things look again at his 12 month check up to see how things look before any concerns come for his weight. Here is his picture that we are doing comparing his height against the stuffed animal. It is getting increasingly difficult to try to get him to sit next to the animal, and standing as well - he wants to move. Also, here is a picture of him climbing the stairs. When we let him crawl them, we are there right behind him to catch him - so don't worry. Though our make due gate for the stairs is not working as good - Pierce is starting to outsmart us. So we better work on that. He has also learned how to open cabinet doors. So we will be doing a lot of baby proofing in the next few weeks. Any advice is welcome. One other thing Pierce is doing is when most kids will sit after crawling or getting down from standing, Pierce will actually sit on his knees instead of his butt. It is so cute, and he just sits up like that for long periods of time. I will try to get a picture and post it later.

Mother's Day

Well it was my first official mother's day this year. It was a beautiful day and a relaxing one. We had reservations to Chez Zee. (http://www.chez-zee.com/) We had a great brunch there and the food is excellent! Then just came home and rested the rest of the day. Pierce got me a hammock to hang between our two big trees in the backyard for mother's day and a very sweet card. It will be nice to enjoy while the weather isn't too hot. Graduation

Well D's sister is finally done with her Masters in Elementary Education! We are so proud of her and can't wait to hear all her stories of teaching kindergarten. We had a great time visiting with her, her boyfriend, his parents and our mom. Unfortunately our dad was not able to make it - had to go to England for work. But we taped the important parts and took pictures for him. Pierce could not make it through the whole ceremony, he was able to fall asleep in the coliseum with all the cheering and whistling. Going there, we took the bus. It was his first bus drive and he just loved it. He was held by his dad, facing everyone else behind him and was holding onto the bar just laughing and talking. The lady next to me was very entertained. We went to Chuy's the night before for dinner and to County Line after graduation. Aunt Desi showed Pierce how to feed turtles while we waited for our table at County Line. He enjoyed watching them! The weather was just wonderful for this event. New Foods

Well Pierce has been introduced to a lot of new foods lately. Some of these include black beans, tortillas, rice, pasta, brisket, turkey, potatoes and bread. There are some of these he really really likes, and others that he just throws to the ground. During this weekend for D's sister's graduation and mother's day, Pierce has been to a restaurant every day. He did so good! It was a lot of fun to have him sitting at the table and eating with us. We have also noticed that he really is a people watcher.

Big Boy Car Seat

Well our little boy is growing up way too fast! We have gotten him a new car seat - a convertible one that will last him for awhile. He seems to like it - falls asleep pretty fast in it when he is tiered. We can't wait till we can turn him around to be forward facing. I think he will like riding in the car better that way. Now he has a comfy seat to ride in for our trip up to Dallas and to Nebraska.

Well Pierce has really taken a liking to his blankie. This blankie was given to us by our really good friends - The McDaniel's (actually made by our friend's mother). Just thought this picture was too cute to not post.
